2015: A Year Behind The Blonde Ethos

A lot can change in a year. So, before 2015 is over, take some time to consider your highlights, the things you’ve been grateful for and the lesson you’ve learned.

For me, 2015 has been a whirlwind of a year - full-on, inspiring, wonderful and completely unforgettable. But before I launch full-force into 2016 with fresh goals and resolutions, I wanted to share with you some of my highlights.

##The Blonde Ethos At the beginning of this year, I moved to a new platform, gave The Blonde Ethos a new look and really focused my content uncompromisingly on the things that matter most. I’m enduringly passionate about health, fitness and nutrition education so I’ve been bringing you ultimate guides to things from sportswear and supplements to interviews with the experts.

I’m beyond thrilled to have been shortlisted for Best in Fitness in the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards as well as Best Fitness Blog in the MyProtein Blog Awards. Thank you again to everyone who nominated and voted, it means so much.

The Blonde Ethos was even featured as ‘Blog of the Week’ in a national newspaper this year. Exciting times!

##Opportunities I’ve had some unbelievable opportunities offered to me this year that I’ve grabbed with both hands.

While I’ve never had aspirations of being a model, at one point this year, I had four photo and video shoots within a two week period. Crazy!

I’ve also started training to be a fitness instructor and personal trainer. While it’s a slower process than I would like it to be as I juggle a demanding full-time job, running The Blonde Ethos, and having a life, my passion to gain more knowledge and help people grows constantly stronger. Watch this space!

##Marketing Degree + Career After three years of hard work, I graduated this year with a first class degree in Marketing. I could never have done this without the constant support of my incredible family, boyfriend, and friends. I’m eternally grateful to have them by my side.

I knew during my studies that I wanted to pursue marketing within the health and fitness sector, so as soon as my dissertation was handed in, I started work in health and nutrition PR, which I loved. Then, towards the end of the year, I was offered a role working with global sport and fitness brands that I launched into in December.

##Moving to London + Friends In March, before I had even finished my degree, I moved down to London. It was the first time that I had ever moved house in my life, so escaping my little home town in favour of a city that never sleeps was totally surreal.

In fact, months later, it still seems surreal sometimes. I get to live with my best friend and, beyond our front door, there are endless opportunities every single day.

I’d always imagined, as people say, that the hardest part of moving to a new city is meeting new people and making new friends. But oh my gosh, I am the luckiest girl in the world to have met so many wonderful people. The girls that have become amazing friends are people that I share brunches, workouts, cocktails (and even jobs!) with.

I remember, in particular, being at the Cosmo Blog Awards ceremony, receiving overwhelming messages of support, meanwhile bursting with pride for my friends who I shared the shortlist with. I am so damn lucky. (And welling up slightly as I write this).

##A Little Personal I couldn’t have made it through such a crazy year without believing in myself. This year has been busy, and at times stressful, but throughout everything, I have learnt to be happy.

I have become acutely aware of how my body feels, of my mindset, and of the things that upset the balance. I am more confident than ever in my own skin. I have been true to my values and I have grown personally and professionally through everything. So...
