MyProtein Almond Butter + Snack Bar Recipes

I think that nut butters are fantastic (see my favourite snack) and had been wanting to try almond butter for a long time. This MyProtein Almond Butter* from The Hut is one in particular that I had wanted to get my hands on. It's 100% almond butter which means no added sugar, salt or palm oil.

Almond butter contains both mono and polyunsaturated fats, is a great source of protein and is really calorie dense, great for a balanced snack if you are as active and struggling to eat enough healthy cals as I am!

If, like me, you're used to munching away on peanut butter, almond butter may seem a bit unusual at first. The MyProtein Almond Butter is really smooth, almost runny and it took me a little while to get used to the taste. While I enjoy my peanut butter with apple, both my boyfriend and I prefer this almond butter as a snack with veggie sticks as opposed to fruits. Anthony also loves this almond butter on his morning porridge. Unfortunately I'm not a porridge lover. However, I have come up with a quick and yummy almond butter snack bar recipe (which Anthony also can't get enough of!).

+ 1/2 cup My Protein Almond Butter

+ 1 cup oats

+ 1/4 cup water

+ 12 dates (chopped)

+ 2 tbsp flaxseed

+ 2 tbsp fruit, nut and seed mix

Simply, just mix these ingredients together until they bind (adding more almond butter if it isn't sticky enough). Then, spread the mixture into a tin lined with baking parchment (I used a 6x6 tin but it depends how big/deep you want the snack bars) or roll into balls and put in the fridge to set for a couple of hours. I cut my batch into 8 bars... which didn't last very long... I will be making a double-batch next time round!

I have also experimented with different quantities and different ingredients and found this chocolatey version which I am loving right now:

+ 1/2 cup My Protein Almond Butter

+ 1 cup oats

+ 1/4 cup water

+ 12 dates (chopped)

+ 8 squares of dark chocolate (chopped)

+ 1 sneaky tsp of Nutella

I've found The Hut to be an awesome website. They have such a variety of products including beauty brands such as Korres and GHD so I definitely recommend checking it out - not least for this yummy nut butter!!

If you have tried or seen any other almond butter recipes, I'd love to hear about them so just drop a link below or tweet me!
